Developing On-Going Student Assessment Practices

To ensure a comprehensive and effective assessment system, SLC works with districts to do the following: 1) use screening, diagnostic, benchmark, and progress monitoring to inform the instructional content, activity, delivery, and supplemental materials to meet instructional needs and strengths; 2) ensure district-level decision-making guides for using data to drive instruction are developed, provided, and used; 3) use both formal and informal assessments to provide data that drives instruction, supports differentiation, and aligns to academic standards; and 4) evaluate and review systemic implementation of curricula and instructional practices by providing evidence that teachers’ units and/or lesson plans show intentional planning to foster students’ literacy development.
