From the literacy plan to daily instruction

A plan needs to make sense to the people carrying it out. We begin by listening to leaders and teachers, looking at student data and observing instruction. Together, we identify where support is needed and connect professional learning with opportunities to practice, receive feedback and adjust.

Our work spans birth through grade 12. That includes early childhood, kindergarten through grade 3, upper elementary, adolescent literacy and family and community partnerships. Sterling Literacy works nationwide.

What we can help your team do

Understand your starting point

Literacy audits, classroom observations and conversations with educators help identify needs across curriculum, assessment and instruction. We use that picture to focus the work.

Develop a strategic literacy plan

We help district leadership teams connect goals, student data and local priorities. Planning can include implementation steps, leadership support and ways to review progress as the work develops.

Connect professional learning with coaching

Professional learning builds understanding of reading research and instruction. Classroom coaching helps teachers apply it through demonstration lessons, collaborative planning, observations and feedback. Resources between visits support continued practice.

Support curriculum implementation

We help teams evaluate, adopt and use high-quality instructional materials (HQIM). Curriculum-based professional learning and coaching address the practical questions that come up as teachers use materials with students.

A partnership that adjusts as you learn

We review observations, educator feedback and student data with your team, then use what we learn to plan the next cycle of support. This keeps the work connected to classroom needs as implementation progresses.
